Employee Spotlight Q&A: Greg Wood

June 16, 2021
My favorite project to date is the work we have done for Adams Funds. It’s been rewarding to be a part of such a transformational project from the beginning.

Describe your role at BackBay. What is the day to day like?

I’m Vice President, Creative Director at BackBay. My typical day entails concepting, creating, designing and editing various marketing materials and websites for both our clients and BackBay.

Describe your time at BackBay in three words.

Team. New Challenges. Growth.

What has been your favorite project while working at BackBay?

My favorite project to date is the work we have done for Adams Funds around developing and refining their logo and website. It’s been rewarding to be a part of such a transformational project from the beginning. Just recently, we completed a major refresh of their website, updating it from the design we did five years ago when they first rebranded. The new design accommodates more news and insights, and has contributed to growing Adams Funds’ digital presence, where they now have LinkedIn followers in the thousands, having started from zero just a short while ago. It is exciting to work with a client like Adams Funds that uses almost all of the tools and strategies in the BackBay brand wheel.

What did you study in college? How does it relate to what you do now?

I was a Graphic Design major at Mass College of Art in Boston and I use that design training along with years of on-the-job experience every day at BackBay.

What is your favorite thing about BackBay culture? What events/campaigns/community service etc., have you enjoyed most and why

I like that it is both a team and individual work environment. We have the freedom to bring our ideas to the table, creating a collaborative atmosphere where everyone contributes.

The BackBay volunteer work I enjoyed most was at Community Servings chopping vegetables to prepare meals for critically ill individuals and families. I also enjoyed helping Greater Boston Food Bank prepare over 1,900 meals.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be an artist.

What do you like to do when you’re not in the office?

I’m a huge advocate for health and working out and love going to the gym and learning about new fitness trends. I attend any live music that I can. Mostly, I love spending time with my 3 kids and their dogs and my partner, Karen. Karen and I are always on the hunt for great restaurants on the South Shore and outdoor adventures such as kayaking on the North River.
