London – The Economist Events has appointed BackBay Communications, a public relations and integrated marketing firm specialising in financial communications, as its PR agency for its inaugural Climate Risk Summit.
The summit, to be held at One Moorgate Place in London on July 2, 2019, will focus on the far-reaching implications of climate change, as well as how executives can better understand and manage the risks.
The event will gather business leaders, policymakers, scientists, academics and investors to discuss opportunities, challenges and strategies in the management of climate change-related risks.
Topics on the agenda include: How climate risk is being disclosed and reported, and what can be done to improve transparency; how investors can put pressure on companies to be more transparent; which models are available to inform corporations on their current and future risks; how prepared corporate giants in industries like energy and car-manufacturing are; the risk to global financial stability if companies don’t get better at managing and disclosing climate-related risk; and how this global risk can be managed and mitigated.
Terms of the Economist Events’ partnership with BackBay Communications include raising awareness of the event and its speakers among key target media across a range of industries and in climate risk, environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment communities through pre-event digital communications, including a Q&A speaker blog available at www.economistclimaterisk.com, and social media and media relations support at the event. BackBay has provided PR support for a number of The Economist Events’ summits including the Finance Disrupted events in New York and London and the Investing for Impact conference in New York.
“CEOs around the world are waking up to the responsibility and long-term interest that they have in managing climate change-related risks,” said Bill Haynes, President and CEO of BackBay Communications. “With an impressive list of speakers, the Economist Events has created the premier forum for key decision makers to exchange ideas and explore how climate-related risks can be managed from the top down.”
“We are delighted to once again have the support of BackBay Communications,” said Leila Berkeley, EVP and Managing Director of the Economist Events. “Their deep PR experience and robust relationships, both with the media and with clients focused on impact and sustainable investing, has proven invaluable to the promotion of our previous events and we are confident that the Climate Risk Summit will be no exception.”
